Hi, my name is Brandon Lyon. I am the founder of Twelve Mental Performance. My approach to mental performance is deeply rooted in decades of hands-on experience in education, leadership, and high-stakes athletic competition.
I currently live in Preston, Idaho and have been a teacher and coach here for many years. Over the course of my career, I have accumulated 25 years of combined experience as a high school head soccer coach, leading the girls' program for the last 15 years and the boys' program for 10 years prior. I have also served as the head track and field coach for 17 years, with a 4-year stint as an assistant basketball coach in the middle. Alongside coaching, my time as a classroom educator has given me a front-row seat to the holistic challenges performers face. I recently completed my Master's degree in Sport and Performance Psychology. This academic foundation, combined with my extensive coaching and teaching tenure, inspired the launch of this consulting practice. I am also a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), working towards my Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC) certification.
High performance is not just about physical repetition, it is about how you manage your mind when the stakes are highest. Through my years as an athlete, a coach, and in the classroom, I have learned that the greatest barrier to success is rarely a lack of talent or physical preparation. More often, it is the internal noise - the fear of failure, the weight of external expectations, and the difficulty of staying entirely present.
I believe that mental performance is a highly trainable skill. By intentionally cultivating self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilient routines, you can quiet that internal noise. When you learn to separate your identity from your outcomes, you gain the freedom to step into any high-pressure environment and execute your training with total commitment.
